My name is Liesan and I am a bookbinder, craftsperson and artist. I was told that every artist should have a mission statement and although I have thought long and hard about it I think I will remain without one, or will I? Because although I love to look for layer upon layer of meaning in everything and enjoy big conceptual ideas, my work often is very simple and physical in the sense that it's about textures, about touching the material. So my mission statement if I had one would basically be my sense of touch. Not much to talk about.
I prefer to work with natural materials and try to be as eco-aware as possible without compromising the quality.
I live and work in The Netherlands and share a home with a 17 year old kitten and a wonderful man.
